Lightweight Quasar replica bodyshell supplied by Concept Engineering

5mm cast Acrylic windscreen

Console modified to improve ventilation of the engine bay and allow engine air intake access to cooler air.

All mirrors, lights and indicators were retained to keep the Quasar fully road legal.

Engine & Transmission

850 Reliant engine prepared by Richard Owen, (in 1981!). The camshaft has been re-ground to a 'type-143' profile.

Cylinder head prepared by Royce Creasey, featuring lightened rockers, Ford Valve springs, and blended ports. The Valve guides were machined to take circlips to prevent them from moving in the head.

Richard Owen 4-branch exhaust with standard Quasar silencer. The exhaust primaries were wrapped with heat-shielding tape to reduce heat build-up in the engine compartment.

Weber ICH34 carburetor fitted with a JR air filter for a Renault 5 Turbo.

Magnatronic electronic ignition.

Laycock diaphram clutch.

Standard 850 Reliant gearbox, (with standard ratios).

Standard Reliant/Quasar drive shaft.

Standard Quasar 11:39 diff ratio. (Robin 750 van).

Wheels, Brakes & Tyres

Standard Quasar wheels.

Standard Quasar 9" cast iron disks fitted all round, with AP lockheed CP2696 2-piston calipers.

Avon AM18 Super Venom Tyres. 120/80v18 Universal, fitted front and rear, with around 6,000 miles wear prior to the event.
